of interest was the JAG SEEHRA vs NASIM AHMED

2011/2012 BOXING CLUBS of BRITISH COLUMBIA

THE BOXING CLUBS OF BC  November 2011: by brian Zelley

There are just over 40 registered boxing clubs as of November 2011
in British Columbia from the Action Boxing Club of Vancouver
to the Williams Lake Boxing Club.

The clubs are registered with BOXING BC and must follow
the rules and regulations of BOXING CANADA.  Each club
must be under the direction and supervision of a qualified
boxing coach which is required to be tested from time to
time on their qualifications.  Each coach also has an
opportunity to take various coaches clinics and achieve
higher standings in order to qualify to be a Provincial
or National coach.

Based on the directory of Boxing BC, there are a few
coaches that have reached coaching  level 3 or higher. S\
Some of the registered coaches that have obtained a level 3
or higher include:
Terry Cooke, George Anglelomatis,  Anthony Stamboulleh,
Garth Rizzuto, Dave Brett, Kevin Howard, Bob Pegues,
Dale Gatin, Barry Creswell, Bette Ali, Manny sobral,
Wally Doern and Scotty Jackson.

A word of caution, some of the coachs that have not
achieved the level 3 to 5 rankings are still outstanding
coaches with a lot of experience, but just have not
taken the formal courses and clinics that would
qualify them to coach a National team.

Parksville host of Bronze Gloves on the Road to Glory

BOXING BC - THE 2011 BRONZE GLOVES hosted by GENESIS BOXING CLUB
.The lead-up to the tournament in Parksville has received some interesting
previews to ensure public awareness of the GENESIS BOXING CLUB
and some of the members of the club.

The public sparring sessions was a good promo idea to tell the story
let's hope it pays dividends at the event with a reasonable number of
paying fans and friends of boxing.

BC COACHES CORNER

THE COACHES of BOXING BC By Brian W. Zelley, B. Com., C A

At the present time it is expected that coaches for International competition would have a
coaching level of 4 or 5, but in British Columbiam the level 4 and 5 coaches are restricted to only a few. These would include GEORGE ANGELOMATIS, GARTH RIZZUTO and KEVIN HOWARD.

Many of the head coaches of clubs are Level 3 or 2 but some are still level 1 coaches.

MOVING INTO THE MODERN AGE
*Many organizations and professional groups use  the internet as a positive
source to educate.  Is it time that Boxing Canada and the Provincial bodies
started a National program to assist in the advanced education of coaches
and officials by offering self-learning modules on-line.
