Trecking down the road to Excellence:
The results at the 2013 Canadian Golden
Gloves tournament, and the results at the
the Alberta Golden Gloves will not guarantee
any sweep at National competition, but it is
a good sign, and opens the doors a little
wider for more BC boxers to earn the title of
Canadian champion.

VIC MURDOCH, pioneer golden gloves boxer

VIC MURDOCH, a unsung hero of British Columbia Amateur Boxing.

*Throughout the decades, Vic Murdoch was always there to
participate as a referee or judge, but unlike some, he has never
received the praise and recognition that he so richly deserves.

When we travel back to the eighties, VIC MURDOCH  was a
regular in club shows and boxing tournaments, but what
many did not realize was his excellence as a boxer
back in the Forties.

He not only participated in the early years of the
BC Golden Gloves, but was also a pioneer in the
Seattle Golden Gloves tournaments.

BCLocalNews.com - B.C. Provincial Boxing Championships thrill in Revelstoke

BCLocalNews.com - B.C. Provincial Boxing Championships thrill in Revelstoke
(report by Aaron Orlando of the "Revelstoke Time Review" - see link above)

Congratulations to Revelstoke Boxing Club and Boxing BC, and thanks is
due to the clubs, boxers, coaches and officials that participated.

Aaron reported on the sunday afternoon finals and made the
statement: "bout...were impressive to say the least".

One of the best bouts reported was a bout between
Connor Null vs Marcus Sandhu.  Another bout
of interest was the JAG SEEHRA vs NASIM AHMED
senior lighweight, and the ROBBIE CUSINE vs
DAVID FUNK in the youth lightweight bout.
Also, Thistletown boxer SPENCER HOWARD
performed well against a boxer from Vancouver.
THOMAS SPEIRS of Prince George again won
a provincial title with a victory over Aron McKenzie
of Olson's Gym.
